Track is a spring sport at Mary of Nazareth School.
The MoN track program is dedicated to promoting fun, teaching team members the skills and abilities required in track and field. and developing in them an enjoyment of running that can carry through life. Age appropriate training is provided for all ( K – 8th ), with instruction in the basic skills of competitive running and field events. An emphasis is made on setting and achieving goals and promoting the values of teamwork, good sportsmanship and friendship through sports. Practices are held twice a week with participation required only on a “come when you can” basis for both practices and meets. Our track techniques and training are used by teammates in other sports to enhance speed and endurance. The team participates with other local Archdiocese of Washington schools & Catholic Youth Organizations (CYO) teams in an informal series of dual and mini-meets over the spring season. Annual program events usually include several trail runs at local parks, a “set the MoN school record” meet, and the season ending MON dual meet and picnic.
